Description of Mentors

Career Mentors
Career mentors are responsible for overall career guidance and support for their mentees. Often affiliated with the Faculty Mentoring Program, career mentors may or may not also serve as scholarly mentors (see below). Scheduled meetings take place at least 2-3 times per year.

Scholarly Mentors
Scholarly mentors are responsible for developing the creative and/or independent research careers of their mentees. Unlike career mentors, scholarly mentors must have expertise in the mentees' area of scholarship and help provide resources to support mentees' work. Scheduled meetings take place 1-2 times per month.

Co-Mentors
Co-mentors work with mentees and scholary mentors to provide specialized content area or methodological expertise. Scheduled meetings take place every 1-3 months.

Advisors
Advisor have a more limited role than mentors. Advisors provide guidance on an as-needed basis generally around a specific issue. There is no expectation for ongoing contact.
